Learn Talk Play

Learn Talk Play is a social skills group designed for pre-K children, ages 4-6 and 6-12, who have speech and occupational therapy needs.

The program helps children practice their skills in a natural setting with their peers. The group teaches children how to play with other children, think about others, follow a group plan and fully participate, cope with the unexpected, play appropriately with toys, and express emotions in a healthy way.

Learn Talk Play follows the Social Thinking Model, and daily activities follow that model. The program teaches children about social skills and why we have to do them. Specific concepts are broken down for 2-4 weeks at a time. The activities are similar to those in typical classrooms. Structured food learning opportunities and frequent sensory motor breaks are an important part of the day.
