The Fraser School Ready 4K Program is designed to meet the needs of children who will soon be entering kindergarten. Following National Association for the Education of Young Children guidelines, the program provides a structured learning atmosphere with lesson plans geared toward kindergarten readiness. Our goal is to provide an instructional program that is comprehensive, balances child-initiated with teacher-directed activity and systematically teaches children skills and concepts that are essential for long-term success in kindergarten.
Classroom strategies include: rotating learning centers, print-rich environment, word walls, sight words, literacy/writing centers, listening centers, and theme-based lesson plans developed using research-proven early childhood curriculum.
The Ready 4K curriculum is taught from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with the length of the structured activities longer than those for preschoolers. This helps students expand their attention spans and ability to follow directions which are critical skills for success in kindergarten.
Ready 4K is provided at Fraser School, an inclusive early childhood education center, serving children who have typical needs and children who have special needs. Our unique setting allows children of all abilities to learn, play and grow side by side, and provides a challenging, enlightening and motivating environment for all.
