The Center-Based Respite Care Program is designed to meet the diverse needs of each child by providing stimulating activities and appropriate staffing to meet the safety and child care needs of each child, while providing respite for the family. Children have the opportunity to participate in a typical child care environment with their peers. The program provides a safe, nurturing environment and comprehensive respite services which include developmentally and age appropriate activities.
The Center-Based Respite Care Program is provided at Fraser School, an inclusive early childhood education center, serving children who have typical needs and children who have special needs. Our unique setting allows children of all abilities to learn, play and grow side by side, and provides a challenging, enlightening and motivating environment for all.
Children 6 weeks to 5 years of age who qualify for early childhood special education services and demonstrate behavioral, mental, physical, medical and/or health related concerns which are difficult for a care provider on a full-time basis. A team of professionals (including a program director, program coordinators, lead teachers, assistants and health services staff) provides services. Consulting staff also includes licensed therapists, psychologists, an on-site nurse, and health professionals.
