Therapeutic Listening® is an evidence-backed protocol that combines a sound-based intervention with sensory integrative activities to create a comprehensive program that is effective for children with sensory challenges. Therapeutic Listening can impact sensory modulation, attention, behavior, postural organization, and speech and language difficulties. Therapeutic Listening is designed to be primarily a home program directed by an occupational therapist. Ideally, it is provided as part of the child’s ongoing occupational therapy program.
Therapeutic Listening is provided through Fraser Rehabilitation Services, which provide comprehensive evaluation, consultation and treatment services for children with motor and sensory dysfunction, decreased functional and developmental skills, feeding and swallowing difficulties, and speech, language, and hearing disorders. These therapy services are provided with an interdisciplinary approach and each child’s goals and activities are individualized, based on strengths, challenges and motivations. Fraser therapists collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers and mental health practitioners to maximize results.
Most programs are designed for children up to 7 years of age. Children older than 7 may be served depending on the child, program and treating therapy team.
