The Fraser Music Therapy Program uses music to help children work toward individual developmental goals and improve life skills, including: academic, social, emotional, communication and physical skills. These goals may be based on parent observation, existing rehabilitation goals or social/educational goals. Children of all abilities are encouraged to participate in music therapy at their highest level of independence.
Music therapy is provided through Fraser Rehabilitation Services, which provide comprehensive evaluation, consultation, and treatment services for children with motor and sensory dysfunction, decreased functional and developmental skills, feeding and swallowing difficulties, and speech, language, and hearing disorders. These therapy services are provided with an interdisciplinary approach and each child’s goals and activities are individualized, based on strengths, challenges, and motivations. Fraser therapists collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers, and mental health practitioners to maximize results.
Fraser’s music therapy program is designed for children up to 7 years of age. Children older than 7 may be served depending on the child and the treating therapy team.
