Autism Spectrum Disorders Behavioral Aide Services
Fraser Autism Program
Autism Behavioral Aides work one-on-one with a child to improve skills and implement goals from an individual behavior plan. This helps the child to replace inappropriate skills with developmentally and therapeutically appropriate daily-living, social, leisure and recreational skills. The child’s individual behavior plan may include:
- assisting with skill development in dressing, eating, and toileting;
- assisting, monitoring and guiding to complete tasks;
- observing and intervening to redirect inappropriate behavior;
- assisting in age-appropriate self-management skills as related to the child’s emotional disorder or mental illness, including problem solving, decision making, communication, conflict resolution, anger management, social skills, and recreational skills;
- implementing de-escalation techniques.
These services are through the Fraser Autism Program which provides evaluation and treatment services for children with autism spectrum disorders. Through this program, Fraser provides behavioral aide services to support children and families.
