Autism Spectrum Disorders Therapy Services

Fraser Autism Program

Fraser provides individual child, group and family therapies to address the social-emotional needs of children who have autism spectrum disorders and their families. Autism Spectrum Disorders Therapy Services are structured to promote adaptive coping skills, decrease at-risk behaviors and to improve overall adaptive functioning in the family. The need for outpatient therapy is determined by a licensed mental health professional during a diagnostic assessment and based on criteria for medical necessity. An individual treatment plan identifies goals and objectives as well as the frequency of services.

These therapies are through the Fraser Autism Program which provides evaluation and treatment services for children with autism spectrum disorders. The long-range goal of this program is to maximize each child's developmental potential while improving the child's functioning in family, school and community environments. Services are tailored to individual needs using best practice methods from multiple perspectives.

Individual Child Therapy

The child’s individual treatment plan may include activities such as:

promoting attachment behaviors
increasing self-regulation
improving safety awareness
improving self-esteem
increasing strategies to communicate feelings
improving understanding of diagnosis and how it affects child/family
increasing parents’ understanding and use of strategies to manage behavior

Group Therapy

The child’s group treatment plan goals and strategies may include:

promoting social interaction/skills development
recognizing and communicating feelings
modulating arousal and managing conflicts
recognizing the impact of one’s behavior on others

Family Therapy

Goals and strategies may include:

building stronger family relationships
better managing family conflicts
more effective child guidance
introducing effective structure into family life
problem solving behavioral challenges

Program Highlights

Outpatient therapies are structured to address individual needs and reviewed quarterly to determine whether the service and interventions are appropriate.

Payment/Funding

Insurance, medical assistance, TEFRA, prepaid health plans (PMAP), county funding, and private pay. Clients should contact the county to find out how Fraser billing the MA/TEFRA account will affect them.
