Autism Skills Training
Fraser Autism Program
The Autism Skills Training services at Fraser are designed to improve social and behavioral functioning for the child and family. Skills are developed in areas important to daily-living activities and participation in the community (residence, school, peer group).
These services are through the Fraser Autism Program which provides evaluation and treatment services for children with autism spectrum disorders. The long-range goal of this program is to maximize each child's developmental potential while improving functioning in a variety of environments.
Individual, family and group skills training:
- promote age-appropriate daily-living skills
- increase child's adaptive functioning at home and in the community
- strengthen interpersonal and family relationships
- increase parent’s understanding of child development and autism spectrum disorders
- strengthen parenting strategies appropriate for children with special needs
The child’s Individual Treatment Plan may include goals such as:
- developing self-care skills in dressing, eating, and toileting
- improving social skills including social interactions and conflict resolution
- developing play and recreational skills
- developing self-management skills related to the child’s disorder, including problem solving, decision making, safety awareness and anger management
- improving communication skills
- developing parenting skills to help the child achieve outlined goals including implementing structure, coaching strategies and behavior management techniques
- improving sibling and family interactions
Ages Served
- Children ages 2 through 18, as required and identified through a diagnostic assessment by a licensed mental health professional.
- Skills training can be done on an individual basis with the child and parent,with the child and entire family, or with a group of children.
Our Staff
Mental health practitioners provide interventions under the supervision of a mental health professional.

Payment/Funding
Medical Assistance, TEFRA, private pay. Fraser intake services will verify your child's insurance benefits prior to receiving services. Families receiving county assistance should also contact their county to find out how billing the account will affect them.
