The Asperger’s Disorder Day Treatment Program provides a combination of group therapy and skills training to adolescents. Interventions focus on building self-esteem, social interaction/communication and coping skills to enable adolescents to remain in their mainstream school settings. Services are delivered in small-group settings with participants of similar ages. Groups meet twice a week for three hours. Family involvement is an expected component of the program.
These services are through the Fraser Autism Program which provides evaluation and treatment services for children with autism spectrum disorders. The long-range goal of this program is to maximize each child's developmental potential while improving the child's functioning in family, school, and community environments. Services are tailored to individual needs using best practice methods from multiple perspectives.
Adolescents in middle and high school, up to 18 years old, are eligible for the program. Groups are formed on the basis of age and ability.
