Fraser Walk for Autism
Fundraising Tips
Autism is our community's most pressing need. Your fundraising efforts are important to ensuring that current autism services remain stable and new services become available. All funds raised through the Fraser Walk for Autism will help local families. Thank you for your efforts on behalf of children and adults with autism.
The Fraser Walk for Autism is one of our annual fundraising events that helps to make up for costs not covered in service fees (school tuition, insurance reimbursement, waiver fees, etc.). Your participation is critical to the success of this event and helps Fraser to maintain our quality programs and services. Donations are welcome and accepted with many thanks.

Enlist the support of your friends and family. Contact people in your address book, on your holiday card list, alumni list, religious group, at work or in a social group. The more people you contact, the higher your success rate will be. If you create a personal or team web page, we will provide sample emails for you to use in requesting donations. You can easily check your progress online.
Corporate donations and matching gifts
When creating your mailing list, don't forget local companies and businesses. Think about the different companies you interact with on a daily basis (including the one you work for) and consider them as possible contributors. Corporations generally have a budget for charitable giving and are willing to support events in which their employees/clients participate. The company also benefits (tax breaks, recognition in the community as being philanthropic, etc.).
Many companies have a matching gift program for employees who make charitable contributions. Matching gift programs vary from company to company. There are often minimum and maximum donation levels, and the matching level also varies. Be sure to ask your contributors if they work for a company that has a matching gift program — you can receive a match from their company, as well as yours. To learn more about matching gift programs, contact your employer's human resources department.
Please send your matching gift forms and contributions to:

Creative ideas for corporate teams
- As a fundraising challenge, have the company match the dollars raised by individual team members.
- Have your corporate team walk in honor of the employee of the month/year
- Assign each member of your team to represent an important person with autism and walk in honor of him/her.
- If not all members of your company are walking on your corporate team, encourage them to pledge team members as a show of support.
Ideas for follow-up report
Following up with your supporters after the event is a nice touch. Share with them your experience and success and they might be encouraged to support you again next year. Below are some ideas of things to include, and many of these can be automatically generated through your customized Fraser Walk for Autism web page:
- A personal story about the walk and your experience at it.
- How the event fared as a fundraiser - how many participants, total raised, etc.
- The success of your own fundraising - so your sponsors feel like they're part of your success.
- If payment has not yet been made, an invoice (who to make check payable to, due date, where to mail it).
- Finally and most importantly, a personal thank you to each supporter.
