Sarah's Story

Sarah was diagnosed with Asperger’s Disorder in second grade. After graduating high school, she wanted to pursue her interest in biology. The bird show at the Minnesota Zoo had an internship, but she didn’t get it. “I knew this internship would be perfect for me, but I froze up in the interview,” said Sarah.

Looking for help, Sarah met with Fraser Career Planning and Employment and right away felt connected. “They helped her with interview skills, her resume and her confidence. I saw a real difference in Sarah,” said Ellen, Sarah’s mother.

“I was prepared to tackle the zoo internship again, and I got it!” said Sarah, who is now involved in all aspects of the bird show. She plans to return to Fraser for help with her transition to college, and setting long-term goals. “I want to get my degree, and work with children and animals.”
