Therapeutic Listening

Therapeutic Listening is a comprehensive evidence-based program that combines a sound-based intervention with sensory integrative activities for children with sensory challenges. Therapeutic Listening can impact sensory modulation, attention, behavior, postural organization, and speech and language difficulties.

Therapeutic Listening is designed to be primarily a home program directed by an occupational therapist, and is ideally provided as part of the child’s ongoing occupational therapy program.

Program highlights include:
  • Use of developmental and sensory integration frameworks
  • Use of music that is electronically altered to elicit a specific response
  • Individualized to each child’s needs
  • 2 x day for 30 minute listening sessions
Locations: This program is currently offered in our Fraser Minneapolis, Fraser School (Richfield), and Fraser Anoka locations.

Payment: Parents are responsible for purchasing the necessary equipment for their child to complete this program at home. Items include specialized headphones, a portable battery operated CD player, and one Therapeutic Listening CD. Occupational therapy sessions are typically billed to insurance, Medical Assistance/TEFRA, or prepaid health plans (PMAP).
