Mental Health Practitioner I


OVERVIEW:

To provide clinical services to children, including planning and implementing appropriate treatment services, under the supervision of the program manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. With Mental Health Professionals, develop, implement and update appropriate treatment plan for each child on caseload.

2. Provide care coordination for children and families

3. Provide and/or coordinate assessments and collect data to monitor progress of clients on caseload

4. Provide case management by meeting face-to-face with clients once a month and providing coordination among services

5. Provide other services including social skills, autism consultation, parents support groups as assigned

6. Eligible to participate in productive activities including workshops, parents support groups, home-based skills training, social skills and autism consultation as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A Master’s or other graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university OR a Bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university.

2. 2000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness or children with emotional disturbances, OR 6,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of mental health services to children with emotional disturbances.

3. Experience with preschool age children with special needs.

4. Demonstrated respect for and sensitivity to family and cultural issues.

5. Ability to accurately observe and document behavior of children.

6. Strong communication and collaboration skills with peers and other professionals.

7. Must have the physical health and stamina to work on a consistent basis with children who have special needs. Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.

8. Ability to achieve and maintain status of “not disqualified” upon completion of criminal background studies.
